The López Piñero Institute for the History of Medicine and Science (Instituto de Historia de la Medicina y de la Ciencia López Piñero) (IHMC) is a joint research centre of the Spanish National Research Council (Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas) (CSIC) and the University of Valencia, dedicated to the historical and social study of medicine and science.

Its main function is to develop research projects in this field, and also to offer postgraduate teaching and carry out scientific cultural activities with the aim of disseminating and popularising scientific knowledge in society. To this end the Institute maintains collaborative research relationships with other institutions and investigators in Spain and abroad. The centre includes a specialised library and a museum of the history of medicine and science (currently under development).
