Health-History-Society Research Group (SANHISOC)

SANHISOC is a group dedicated to studying the history of Spanish health services in the international context, focusing principally on public health and health policy, scientists and doctors in exile, experimental medicine and community food and nutrition.
The principal investigator is Josep Lluís Barona. The members of this research group are Josep Bernabeu (Professor of the History of Science, University of Alicante), María José Báguena (Lecturer in the History of Medicine, University of Valencia), Juan A. Micó Navarro (Lecturer in the History of Science, University of Valencia), Joan Lloret Pastor (Assistant Lecturer, University of Valencia) and Joaquim Guillem Llobat (associate professor).



Interwar Health Network

The aim of this network is to promote information exchange, debate and contact between members, to publish studies and to hold academic meetings, conferences and seminars in the field of health in the interwar period (1918-1939). Josep Lluís Barona participates in this European network, which is coordinated by Iris Borowy and is part of the European Association for the History of Medicine and Health.

European Network «Rural Health in Europe. A Comparative Perspective».

This network coordinates research into public health, organisation of health services and health campaigns in rural areas of Europe. It has organised three international conferences and two sessions at European conferences, as well as participating in conferences held in Canada and publishing two monographs. It has received financial support from the three universities involved, the National Research Council of Norway and the Ministry of Science and Innovation in Spain.
The network is coordinated by Astri Andresen (University of Bergen), Steven Cherry (University of East Anglia) and Josep Lluís Barona (University of Valencia)



Project «Transfer of medical and scientific knowledge in Contemporary Europe»

This project is coordinated by Astri Andresen (University of Bergen), with the participation of the Wellcome Institute for the History of Medicine, London, and Linköping University (Sweden). The Institute for the History of Medicine and Science participates through the research projects led by Josep Lluís Barona.
